After much anticipation and speculation, Apple announced its latest update in the iPhone series earlier today from their headquarters in California.
The iPhone 4S was NOT the iPhone 5 that most people had been hoping for. It did not contain any major design changes such as the larger screen we had been hoping for. However, with the new features they DID announce, it looks like the iPhone 4S is set to change the smart phone world yet again.
Display
The new display on the 4S is according to apple, the highest resolution phone screen ever. On their website they claim:
In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels.
Camera
The new camera on the iPhone 4S is a considerable improvement to the previous versions. Not only does it now have an 8 mega-pixel sensor and don a f2.4 lens but it has finally incorporated face detection in an effort to keep up with the competition. The 4S also allows for full HD video recording at a beautiful 1080p.
iOS
With the new iPhone 4S comes a shiny new operating system, iOS5. The new version of iOS brings a host of new features. Just to mention a few:
Notification Centre
The new ‘Notification Centre’ is all of your notifications from your apps in one place. ‘Notification Centre’ also provides you with a To-Do list that rearranges itself depending where you are by using the built-in geolocate feature.
And for you social media lovers, twitter is now integrated into iOS5. Allowing you to sign-in and access twitter through the ‘settings’ app.
Finally, Apple have removed the last reason that occasionally might sway someone into buying a blackberry. iOS5 comes complete with iMessage, Apple’s version to Blackberry Messenger.
